Negroni: Bold, Balanced, and Timeless!

Indulge in the bittersweet sophistication of the Negroni—a cocktail that masterfully balances gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth. With its deep, complex flavors, this classic drink offers bold refreshment for those who appreciate timeless elegance in every sip.
The classic Negroni is equal parts refreshment, bitterness, complexity, and, of course, a slow savoring of its unique blend. Best enjoyed at a bar or on your patio, the Negroni is a drink to be relished slowly. While the recipe is simple—just three ingredients: gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth—the cocktail offers much more than meets the eye.
Negroni lovers know and expect its nuanced flavors. This cocktail is typically ordered by those who have been enjoying it for some time and hold high standards for what it should deliver. Each Negroni fan has their own preferences, making it a delightful challenge to craft a version that satisfies these connoisseurs. Balance is key; the Negroni’s charm lies in its harmony of bitter and sweet flavors, with the herbal gin lending a rich complexity.
Campari can be an acquired taste, but when balanced with sweet vermouth and gin, it creates an experience that is as special as it is satisfying. In my version, I adjust the classic 1:1:1 recipe by increasing the gin and reducing the Campari, allowing the gin’s juniper notes, lemon hints, and subtle coriander to shine through. I also opt for a twist of lemon peel instead of the usual orange, adding brightness. Two dashes of Angostura bitters and a hint of filtered water complete this blend for a well-rounded sip.

Ingredients
2 oz gin
1 oz sweet vermouth
0.5 oz Campari
2 dashes Angostura bitters
0.5 oz filtered water

Garnish
Lemon peel

Glass
Rock glass

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice cubes. Stir with a bar spoon until well chilled, about 20 seconds. Strain into a rock glass over a large ice cube. Twist the lemon peel over the glass to release its oils, rub it along the rim for added aroma, and drop it in as a garnish.
Enjoy the lion’s take on the classic Negroni—bold, balanced, and timeless.
